Pondsinee Charoenwong
My name is Pondsinee Charoenwong from Thailand. I grew up in Rayong, a small East coast city, before moving to study in Bangkok.
I got a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, major in International Relations. During my years of study, I had numerous interests such as immigration, conflicts and peace, democracy, and capitalism, and especially diplomacy. In 2019, I had the opportunity to do an internship at the Royal Thai Embassy in Lisbon where I first learned what a diplomat actually does. I am also fascinated by different cultures and languages. When I was in high school, I attended an exchange program to Portugal which absolutely opened up a whole new inspiration for me to step into IR.
After graduation, I have been working for the Africa Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand. Working here encouraged me to apply for the EIMAS program as becoming a diplomat has been my greatest dream of life. One of my goals right after that is to improve ties, promote and enhance cooperation between Thailand and African states. That’s why I need to learn and understand more deeply about African region. I believe firmly that all the knowledge, training, and exchange of ideas obtained from the EIMAS and colleagues will definitely be helpful for Thai foreign policy development.
